Salon Furniture – The Therapist Chair

When it comes to the hairdressers, it’s not surprising many people see the salon chair as a therapist chair.

If you have a great hairdresser, chances are they’re a great conversationalist too. The salon isn’t just about beauty treatments and bobs. It’s about small talk and chit chats. For some, talking to their hairdressers about their life can be just as therapeutic as the haircut or beauty treatment.

Salon Furniture – Relax and Unwind

A great salon will understand that creating the right, comfortable environment for clients is crucial. Investing in the right salon furniture that is designed to help create a relaxing and therapeutic atmosphere is essential to a hairdresser’s success. Putting clients at ease is all about feeling confident in the salon furniture and professional equipment on hand. But one thing a hairdresser can’t buy is the art of conversation.

Going Anywhere Nice for your Holidays ?

For some, enforced small talk while they’re getting their hair cut is their idea of hell. But for others, easy conversation is what they expect. For young hairdressers, it can be an excruciating right of passage learning the art of conversation. If the hairdresser is shy, or doesn’t have the confidence to begin a conversation, it can leave both the hairdresser and the customer feeling uncomfortable.

But hairdressing is the most sociable industry around. As well as getting the salon to a professional standard with state of the art salon furniture, it’s important to make sure staff are relaxed and professional around clients. The problem is such that five top questions have been compiled for hairdressers to fall back on if they feel stuck. After all, styling may be taught in an NVQ, but chit chat comes with experience. One of the five questions inevitably includes ‘Going anywhere on holiday ?’ As well as that old chestnut, there’s the inevitable ‘Going out tonight ?’ Asking clients about where and when they last had their hair cut (if they’re new) is another common tactic as is asking if they watched the latest TV show – Big Brother, the X Factor, Strictly etc.

Hairdressers Help Shape the Country

In Scotland, the role of hairdressers as conversationalists has been taken a little more seriously. So much so that a think-tank in the country wants to use the knowledge of hairdressers to tap into current trends and opinions of their clients in order to help them run the country. The hairdressers’ opinion forum was organised by the think tank Demos.
